Something I forgot

I forgot to give you updates on Oliver's stats. We went to the Dr for his 4 month check up. At 4 months 2 weeks this is how it went
Weight- 16.3 lbs -70th percentile
Height- 26 inches-75th percentile
Head- 43 cm- 55th percentile

So my baby is growing like he should and that sure makes me happy! Now I just need to remember to go take him to get his shots. Poor little guy has had a stuffy nose for a few days now though, so I'll wait til that clears up to take him.

Also he looks like he has been through a war zone. Yesterday he had probably 7 scratches on his face at church from scratching himself (with clipped fingernails I might add). Luckily his skin heals extremely fast.

It is Finally Happening!

So these last two weeks have been crazy! Well I've been working like crazy that is. A shout out to Gwen Wells-longshore for being my lifesaver and babysitting for me almost every day these last two weeks. I've never met someone as sweet as you! (Gwen was a missionary in my singles ward in Gainesville right before I left on my mission. She wrote me several times on my mission and is now Oliver's best friend. She can sure make that kid laugh and smile!) Also, thanks Kathy for coming down last Friday as well.

So this is what is has been like around here. Me working at every break I can to write and research. Wow. It is HARD to do it with a baby. That is why I am SO grateful to Gwen.

This kid spends a lot of time on his little mat thing.
And he loves to pretend he is a seal.
He got a new shirt that is super cute on him.
And somewhere mixed in with our busy lives, I've made it a new hobby to go to quilting group. I just finished the top. It is all made from scraps so it was all free! I only had to buy the back and the batting which I got all on sale, so my quilt will end up totaling only about $20.
Then there is Gavin. Gavin, Gavin. We were worried he wouldn't make it out of the MTC to his mission in Pittsburg, PA. So Sunday we thought we would take a walk around the Provo temple so that Oliver could see the temple and maybe just "happen" to see Gavin. Well, it was icy cold and we only saw about 6 missionaries total around the temple. But we got some pictures of us freezing.  The good news is that Gavin left the MTC and it wasn't to go home. And we got to talk to him on the phone while he was at the airport. He said he was at the temple the hour before us and seemed much more excited about his mission than he did in the MTC. Go Gavin! You can do it! Stick it out!

What a sight to see!

Then there was the other day when I walked into the bedroom and found lil' son playing in the clean laundry. That made me giggle.
And hopefully you don't mind a naked baby. During the week I always give Oliver his bath since Eric is still at school. But on the weekends Eric takes over and I really think Oliver likes the change. Watch how this kid moves around the tub!
And then of course there is this picture. Look how far his neck is turned during this nap. That just looks uncomfortable. Also notice his socks. They are always falling off and even when they aren't they are like little ankle socks, so we buckled down and bought him new ones. No more newborn socks for him.
Look at his cute hair. Not much of it, but I love when it sticks straight up.
Now on to crocheting. Remember when I put together this little skirt? Well, I know Oliver is a boy, but I had to see if it actually would fit a baby and I think it looks pretty cute. Even with all the pumpkins. And now for the great news. When we moved a huge amount of things mysteriously disappeared. The most devastating of all was our hard drive with all of our pictures from the last three years. Well, when I went to look at my yarn what was in the bag? The hard drive! YAY! So what did I do to celebrate?
Crocheted some slippers for Oliver.

And do you think they stay on his feet any better than socks? Nope. Worse in fact. He can get these puppies off in 2 seconds flat.
And then somehow he gets them underneath himself in another two second. Those legs move nonstop!
Oh, and here are some of those new socks that actually stay on his feet.

Well I think that is it for an update. This afternoon I am going back up to campus to get my last signature and to turn in my Thesis. I'll still be making changes and working on it more but in two weeks (Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2 pm) I'll be defending. Good luck to me!
PS. I am so excited to be done and I'm hoping that my mom is still wanting to get me a graduation present of a sewing machine??? ;)

Here is me. Raggedy Anne. I'm going to cut my hair and donate it. Then in the future sometime I will do a special surprise with my hair. But I won't be giving any details about that. You'll have to wait and see.

4 Month Success

So last post I mentioned about Oliver not being able to stand in the corner, but today I am a proud mama of a standing baby. Here are pictures to prove it!
And he was actually happy while he did it!

I just love how the arms went straight down by his side.

And in the end he was on the floor again, but only after success.

He is always wanting to stand up after everything, so that is why I tried the corner standing again.
There is always room for this cute kid in my house! In his cute church clothes.

He really cracks us up with this position- he is so focused when he is like this.

I got this new play thing for free and after a dip in the laundry machine, it is good as new. He generally likes it.
So stinking cute! He really stinks all the time. Stinky toots.

He is getting so so big.

He would NOT stop wiggling for his 4 month pictures.
 Our little Arab baby praying.
It seems that every child loves boxes. So I had to see if Oliver was just like every other kid. Turns out he is. He loved it!
I put him on the couch and he would slide down almost immediately. He really wiggles all the time now.
And this is the cutest video ever.

Other fun things
  • lately his socks will not stay on at all
  • he has been doing crazy things with his tongue lately that leave us rolling on the floor
  • he always is holding his hands- it is perfect for when we say prayers. Always ready.
  • he goes to bed at 6:30. yesterday we went to a friends house and bathed him early and he tried to go to bed at 5
  • it turns out he really loves sleeping in our bed and somehow he keeps wiggling in with us
  • my sister-in-law Jen told me about how your hair falls out after having a baby. Well it wasn't happening - I've had really low hair shedding ever since I got pregnant. Well, as of last week that changed. My hair is falling out by the handfuls! Hair is everywhere and it is driving all of us crazy.

and all the other pictures that were cute, but didn't fully make the post.

Just can't get enough!

Well, I just can't seem to get enough of this kid. Poor Eric doesn't even get to see Oliver on T and TH except for when he is sleeping. He wakes up after Eric leaves and goes to sleep before Eric comes home. Which means that I get to enjoy him all day, all by myself. We would love visitors just to put it out there.

In the last blog I only put on 4 pictures. When I am working, usually my break is to look at the blog to see Oliver and 4 pictures just wasn't enough for me, so this blog will have more.

Chrissy (my sister) told everyone a while ago that the Chinese stand their babies in the corner at 100 days. This was Oliver at 100 days. He just would slide down and cry. No standing yet.

A few weeks later he stood for about 3 seconds once, but after that it was back to the sliding down, just minus the crying. We'll see in a few days if he can do it any longer.

I think he looks so cute when he sits on the edges of things. Thanks Heather and Joe for this cute outfit.
I've been wanting to get him a nice and warm jacket so that it isn't so hard to bundle him when we go outside since it is so cold. I couldn't find one that I liked and ended up getting this one even though it was for 6-9 months. Turned out it was WAY too big. I mostly realized it when he rode in the stroller and he was swallowed up.

So I found this one instead at the outlet malls.
And Becky gave me this for extra cold days.

Some days he just wants to ride around the house in the stroller, so we go from room to room. It is a pretty short round trip, but he loves it.
Next, this kid has the cutest bum at bath time so I had to snap a shot. He LOVES his baths and knows when he is about to have one because he gets all excited.
Then the other day at the end of the day was his first day that he was actually dirty. His clothes had dirt on them and I have no clue how! So I had to document it and this picture just cracks me up!
Next is a video that is so adorable. This was Oliver watching little Einsteins. I always tell everyone how much he loves TV, but this proves it!
And of course some bumbo pictures. Since he has filled out a little he doesn't look quite so awkward in the bumbo anymore and we have gotten some pretty cute snaps of him sitting in it.

 The cutest of them all.
And any extras that just happened to be in the camera.
Looking sharp in his church clothes!

This was the coldest walk we have taken yet. We were all frozen when we got home.
 Just some Saturday morning resting.

Little sleeperson sleeping on daddy's shoulder.

Just being a good boy and taking a nap.

 Cute little chin.

 He loves doing flying angel!
Not sure what these two videos are of, but I'm sure they are cute!

And that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed the pictures and videos!
