Some of you have asked me what the chickens do when it snows. Well, since we got about 6 inches of snow yesterday, I took some pictures to show you.
Usually when it snows it is warm enough that the water doesn't freeze. But this morning it is 15 degrees and the water was frozen solid. I had to go out twice with boiling water to defrost the bottom layer of ice in the waterer. Once I pulled the ring of ice out though, the water inside wasn't frozen since I keep salt water bottles in it to keep the inside from freezing solid, and it filled up the water with fresh water.
Some people say their chickens like the snow, but mine don't. They avoid it as much as they can. Yesterday they stayed in the coop all day. Or if they come out, they all huddle under the coop. Or they hang out in the nesting boxes laying eggs. We've been getting 4-6 eggs a day all winter so far. It has been nice.
My little human chicks like to sit inside watching Mario Youtubes. They could do it all day if I let them. I usually try to save it though for when I need a nap (which is very often - and they often beg me to take one). Yesterday Oliver didn't feel good so we had a relaxing day, and will probably have another today. We did go see Paddington 2. It was so cute! I liked it better than the first one. I wad glad we saw it. I definitely recommend it.
And on Saturday we went down to City Creek mall to play on the dinosaur playground and to the planetarium. There was this cool colorful wall and i tried to get a picture of the boys jumping, but it was a lot harder than i thought it would be top get them jumping at the same time. Still got some happy pictures though.
