New Pantry

Ok, so for those of you who have toured our new place, you've heard my ideas for each room. I trying to get started on them and some are easier than others. I realized that my crafting ability may not be top quality, so I needed to start in a place that if I messed up, no one would really see it. So I started in the new pantry. And by new pantry, I mean the coat closet.

The house doesn't really have a real pantry. So I had been storing food in the bottom and top of the hall coat closet. I have been longing to add some shelves and store more in there and in a more organized fashion.

So today I finally dug my feet in and did it! Since I know literally nothing about wood, it took me about an hour at Lowes to figure out what wood to buy. The project cost a total of $22. $7 for each 36 in piece of wood, $1 (2) for each support beam and $6 for the wood nails (now I have them, so I won't have to buy those again for the next project). So really it was cheaper than other methods of putting up shelves.

Here is the before. Looking very unorganized and cluttered

Then with the shelved added. And yep, it took me two whole hours. So much for a 30 minute project.

And with the food added. Looking at it now, I probably could have added a third shelf, but no way am I thinking about that right now, especially since I would have to move the two that I just added. But the great thing was that I was able to empty a cupboard from the kitchen, making more space for storing other items in there. And now I can see what I have. I really enjoy looking in this closet now. And it smells really good, like fresh wood.

I also had a birthday. Eric got me our favorite breakfast burritos from Rancheritos. He also got me one of my new favorite movies "Interstellar". That movie just blows my mind. It was really creative and I think about it a lot. It makes me think about time in another way and understand a little bit better how time is for Heavenly Father.

And then there are the two cute little boys. Teddy is crawling now and starting to get pretty fast. He likes to beeline it for the fireplace. And still hasn't discovered the stairs. But I know that is just a short matter of time. Teddy has become the happiest baby on Earth. He is so adorable and giggles so much. Oliver on the other hand is crazy child who tries my patience daily. But I still love him.
