Stadium of Fire

Not many people know this, but I love Kelly Clarkson. About a year ago Eric asked me who my favorite singer was and I didn't know what to say. He decided for me that it was Kelly (his is Rhianna). After he said it though I knew he was right. I remember watching Kelly when she won American Idol 11 years ago and being awed at how amazing her voice was. I love Kelly because she has true vocal talent.

Stadium of Fire occurs every year at the BYU stadium. I have never really had a desire to go. The last few years were
2012- The Beach Boys, Scott McCreery,
2011-Brad Paisley, David Archuleta,
2010- Carrie Underwood, The 5 Browns, Jenny Oaks Baker,
2009-Jonas Brothers, SHeDAISY, Glenn Beck

When each of these people came, I never had a desire to see them. I haven't been to many concerts in my life and generally enjoy hearing the radio version. But this summer I realized that we will very soon be leaving Provo and Provo has quite a few fun activities and events to attend. I made a goal that we would attend some of them before the end of the summer. When I heard that Kelly Clarkson was coming, I knew that this was one of those events that we needed to attend. 

I found a great deal on tickets from the Daily Herald, we got a babysitter (Natalie Chambers and Ben Chambers, you are the BEST!), and we headed over there.

An 11 year old girl sang the national anthem and was incredible. How is it possible that a little girl can have such an amazing voice?

There were little girl dancers too that had giant slinkies to dance with.


Cirque du Solei was pretty awesome. They ended with this awesome 4 person high standing on each other's shoulders that was pretty insane.

The other performers included Carly Rae Jepsen. When she performed it was obvious that she is not famous for her vocal talent. She was cute though and it was fun to sing "Call Me Maybe" with her and everyone else in the stadium.






Then finally it was Kelly's turn. She was incredible. I almost thought she sounded better live than on the radio. She seems like a sweet person too. She has so many famous songs that there were only 2 songs that she sang that we didn't know and she sang at least 10.

Awww, awww. Keep Singing!

Well, I feel like a mermaid. Since my hair is already bleached, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to dye it blue. I actually used a purple dye, but it came out this light blue and I like it. I have actually gotten a ton of compliments on it. Someone at church even asked if they could take a picture of me to show their daughter who they said would have loved to have seen it. So I'd call that success. Oliver was taking a nap when I did it. When he woke up, I went in to get him and he just started laughing and giggling and playing with my hair for about 5 minutes. Glad that this kid has a sense of humor.

My hair has grown a lot already!

I taught Oliver how to play the drum and he couldn't get enough of it.

Other fun news is that on Sunday Oliver started army crawling! It is so cute to watch. In the two days since he is already using his knees more and getting his bum up in the air more. So I guess the real baby-proofing is about to start!

8 Months

I forgot to put up Oliver's 8 month picture. And some updates of what he likes

• He loves to walk around with us holding his arms
• He is tired of trying new foods. He would love to just stick to momma's milk
• Is a night owl and a late sleeper
• Loves his little pool and could be in the water all day
• Thinks he is master of the computer and can watch Baby Einstein all day
• Likes cucumbers because he can stick his finger through them

While we were in FL Oliver turned 7 months. Here are his little 7 month pics

 Since being home he LOVES balls. He probably plays with these two balls for about 3 hours each day. That is a ton considering he is only awake for like 9 hours each day. This was a new little outfit and I thought he looked so cute, so I just snapped a few good ones. He is sitting up so well now too.

 I was looking on Pinterest one day and one of the posts was about sensory activities for babies. This wasn't one of the ideas, but I thought that Oliver would enjoy playing with Jello, and if he ate it he would be okay. He did taste it, but he didn't like it. Instead he got all green, especially around the diaper area.

He is also very smart spoon wise as well. When you hand him the spoon, he turns it and puts it in his mouth the correct way. He loves his little spoons.

Bow Ties

Today after church we took a couple non-traditional family pictures:








Here is Oliver and Eric trying to outdo each other with their cute bow ties. Oliver's is from a cousin on the Thompson side, Sarah Brunson.



And here is a bonus video of Oliver getting tickled by his dad. Hopefully he doesn't become as ticklish as Eric, but it looks like he's already halfway there. Eric curls into a ball the size of a marshmallow when anyone tries to tickle him.

In other news, we signed a contract for our last place in Provo. We will move next week and after the summer we will go north for a while until Eric figures things out with grad school. Peace out!

Last Few Days in FL

We just got back from our trip to FL. UT looks very different. No more tulips and everything is so green. The trees are all covered with leaves and my ceiling in my apartment seems shorter. We are happy to be home and be with Eric again. We missed him so much.

A few days before we left we went and visited Gosia, my favorite person left in G'ville and my old flute teacher. We got the added bonus of also seeing Natalia and her kids and Ali. Gosia really hit it off with Oliver.

On Mother's Day I got to be with the oldest and youngest mother (and grandchildren) in the family and my dad surprised all three of us with balloons, flowers, and chocolates.
 
 We finished the final touches of the fence by putting up the top board on my last day there. That day Oliver truly rocked the fohawk.

We've been getting a lot of tongue action from this kid lately.

Oliver rode horses for the first time and he loved it. I thought he might be scared after what happened when we moved them, but he must have forgotten. He loved their mane the most. He fit great on Choco. His size of horse.

Black Velvet was nice too.

But he looked so tiny on Monty. We couldn't catch Gideon the Donkey, otherwise he would have ridden him too.

Oliver also drove the car for the first time, but only about 100 feet.

This was at the airport when our flight home got delayed an hour. I was pretty bummed to think that he could have been doing this on the plane if we had left on time.  He was perfect on the plane ride though so it didn't matter.

I thought his feet looked so cute so I needed a close-up.

And once we got home we played a good game of catch. I think he'll like balls.
